Fowlerville's fire department has sold one of its older trucks to the Howell Public Schools for $1.
The truck will be used in the district's firefighter training program. School Board President Mike Witt reports the 1984 Pierce fire engine would cost up to $10,000 on the open market. The truck has about 44,000 miles on it.
Howell's firefighter training program now has two fire trucks, which allows students to practice complex exercises. Students perform search-and-rescue tasks and also will begin training in houses scheduled for demolition.
