A brand new exhibit was added to Muskegon's USS Silversides Submarine Museum last weekend. The exhibit follows the footsteps of two Michigan veterans through the events of WWII. It focuses on Robert Miller and Joseph Beyrle, two soldiers who escaped German Prison Camps. The showcase features a replica of the prisons Beyrle and Miller occupied, along with equipment and items from the time.
Museum curator Peggy Maniates told WOOD Radio the exhibit can be a huge eye-opener. "It's a wonderful eductional experience," she said. "It's great to show people what so many gave to preserve our freedom, which we take for granted these days."
