Mel Trotter Ministries served over 2,000 people yesterday at the 17th Annual Thanksgiving Banquet in Grand Rapids.
Communications Manager Cyndy Longyne told WOOD Radio the event took place at Devos Place, which served 190 tables with both donated and purchased items.
"We get a lot of our items like green beans and corn from our brown bag food drive. Other than that, some of that food we have to purchase, like the turkey."
Longyne says Mel Trotter still needs seasonal items like winter clothing.
"It's the cold season now. Our numbers go up in the shelter, just because more people who are homeless or in need come in. Anything you might need to stay warm or eat during the cold season, we need as well."
